8-weeks of Live Virtual Training | One 1.5-hour-long session each week
This introductory course provides clinicians with foundational knowledge and practical tools to learn AIM Text-Based Assistive Technology. This course is instructed by Galilee Damiao, MS OTR/L, with individuals who use AIM Assistive Technology also aiding in the teaching. Participants will gain an understanding of whole body apraxia as a neurologically-based motor planning disorder that impacts voluntary, intentional movements—including those needed for self-expression and intentional pointing.
This course gives an overview of AIM (Apraxia Integration Method), the role of co-regulation, and the AIM clinical decision-making framework. Participants will learn how to use low-tech Assistive Technology (stencils and laminate boards) scaffolding the learning to high-tech keyboards and tablets. This training includes a blend of lecture, guest lectures by individuals who use text-based Assistive Technology, case studies, practical exercises and hands-on demonstrations.
Participants will leave with concrete strategies to begin implementing AIM within their scope of practice, and will be eligible to continue on to Level 2: AIM Applied Practice Certificate of Accreditation.

This intermediate training is designed for practitioners who have completed AIM™ Level 1 and are ready to implement the method with clients with mentorship and support.
Participants will refine motor learning techniques and use of the AIM clinical decision making framework. Participants will implement AIM with clients and improve their skills with mentorship. Practitioners at this level demonstrate the ability to teach AIM to clients, support clients, coach families and team members in achieving purposeful movement patterns for text-based assistive technology.
This training emphasizes reflective practice, coaching strategies, and professional decision-making when supporting non-speaking individuals with apraxia who use assistive technology.
Participants will engage in recorded casework, mentorship meetings, and fidelity-based feedback cycles. This phase marks a shift from understanding to implementation, supporting clinicians as they move from guided use to independent, competent practice.
