Galilee Damiao has worked as an Occupational Therapist with nonspeaking individuals for over 25 years, witnessing firsthand the life-changing impact of text-based assistive technology and typing to communicate.

Galilee has studied with experienced typing practitioners from around the world, finding it a perfeoct match for Occupational Therapy with the grounding in understanding the motor and sensory challenges nonspeaking individuals face when learning to type. Today, she feels blessed to witness remarkable stories of growth of triumph through this work.

"That is what I want for every OT: to have the tools to help nonspeaking individuals demonstrate their remarkable strengths and participate more fully in daily life. AIM provides that," says Galilee. "The AIM Program focuses on self-expression across all areas of occupation, offering a comprehensive framework for best practice that I wish had existed when I was a new practitioner."

Importantly, individuals who use text-based assistive technology have always served as teachers and collaborators in the development of AIM, ensuring that the method remains grounded in lived experience.

Through AIM and the SEEN Foundation, Galilee hopes to bridge longstanding gaps between the typing community and healthcare professionals, expanding access to communication, self-expression, and meaningful participation in everyday life.
